Weather Effects

Welcome back. We have made great progress this month conducting necessary reworks of our entity system and adding a range of new features and systems. This update starts our updates for patch 0.3.1 which will build upon systems added today and new ones mentioned in the last update. Please read our patch notes below for full details and as always, thank you for testing with us!

Change Log

  • Introducing Populate
    • Before this update you would have to request to get new towns and regions added by a member of the developer team.
    • With our new Populate system you can login anywhere in the world and within 3 hours an empty region will be filled with Hubs to visit and new adventures to go on, all automatically.
    • We aim to reduce this time for Town Hubs significantly and allow POIs to start forming before Midnight GMT.
  • Added Live Weather Systems
    • Wherever you are in the world, whether it be drizzle, rain or snow; you will now be able to get some cool weather effects in game imitating what's going on around you.
    • Weather will update periodically every 5 minutes
    • You can turn off the weather visual effects in the game settings.
  • Reworked Entity System
    • As detailed in December, our Entity system started causing some problems in areas with lots of water.
    • Entities are now persistent if you turn your game off or crash.
      • They will respawn in the same quantity and location as before.
      • Entities that have expired (After around 5 - 10 mins) since spawning will still disappear and will not return.
    • Entities now spawn in a queue and wait for tiles to be ready before selecting locations. No more teleporting entities!
  • Add Item Interaction Menu
    • You can now tap on items in your inventory to open a new interaction menu.
    • The menu allows you to:
      • Use - Shown for consumable items
      • Equip - Shown for equipable items
      • Examine - Allows you to view the flavour text for the item.
      • Move - Allows you to open the move mode to move or stack items together.
      • Destroy - Allows you to destroy items from your inventory. This is unrecoverable.
  • Added Crafting Byproducts
    • You can now receive bark from crafting planks. Byproducts are not guaranteed and are usually found in a low quanity.
  • Removed Waterway river types
    • We were previously drawing lines on a map for river data. We no longer draw rivers like this and now rely of a different data set to draw water.
  • Reworked some art assets
  • Various Bug Fixes

Testing Notes

  • We are looking for feedback on weather effects and the validity of the live weather. Please report any discrepancies via the bug report window.
  • Please continue to report any feedback you might have regarding the systems found at the Carpenter.
  • We are continuing to look for feedback on any issues you encounter when using the game. This includes errors when connecting to the server, disconnections while playing, or issues interacting with locations.
  • We are looking for feedback on the implementation of the Crafting system. Please not all values, such as cost, timing, and experience are for testing purposes only.
